Hana Yori Dango Final (movie)06.29.08

Finally, I managed to finished seasons 1 & 2 of Hana Yori Dango yesterday. I’ll definitely gonna miss this series especially the characters in it. Did I say that I like the Taiwanese version more in my previous post? Opps, I guess I prefer the Japanese version better now as the casts played the characters very well and the chemistry between them were awesome…hehehe! I tried watching Meteor Garden again last nite but I guess, it didn’t have the same magic as I watched it the first time ;).

Overall, Hana Yori Dango actually turned out far more entertaining than what I was expecting. You should never judge something by its first impresion. Anyway, I think both Tsukasa and Rui grew on me after awhile. Oh yes Jun Matsumoto! I love him more than Jerry Yan now…lol! His expression is unbelieveable an I loved how he depicted the different sides of Domyoji.

Fans of HYD will get one more chance to see the cast in action again.  Hana Yori Dango Final (film tittle) has been release in Japan since 28th June (how I wish I am in Japan right now…*sigh*…) The film is being described as the last chapter of the live-action adaptation. I wonder if the movie will be shown in Malaysia cinemas? Hmmm, I’ll have to wait until it is subbed and released for download or released on DVD. Such a long wait!

Oh…Oh! Have you heard? There will be a Korean version of Hana Yori Dango. Why am I not surprised? I don’t know what to expect and i wonder if this will be as good as Hana Yori Dango or popular as Meteor Garden? Nevertheless,  I am looking forward to seeing the Korean version though i think that the Japanese version will always be better. Gheez, I just can’t wait to see who they cast for F4 and Makino. Anyone have the answer?

P/S Currently watching Hanazakari no Kimitachi e a.k.a Hana Kimi

Double J in ACTION!04.27.08

Whoaaaa…I love both Jackie Chan and Jet Li and seeing them acted in the same movie is something that I’ve been waiting for so long. I went to watched the midnight show of The Forbidden Kingdom yesterday with my boo. The movie opens with a prologue about the Monkey King (Jet Li) and I’m sure most of you remember the famous ‘Journey To The West‘ drama series rite? I can say that Dicky Cheung plays the role of the Monkey King a.k.a Suen Ng Hung better than anyone else ;) Goshhhh, I love the series very much!

While hunting down bootleg kung-fu DVDs in a Chinatown pawnshop, Jason makes an extraordinary discovery that sends him hurtling back in time to ancient China. There, Jason is charged with a monumental task: he must free the fabled warrior the Monkey King, who has been imprisoned by the evil Jade Warlord. Jason is joined in his quest by wise kung fu master Lu Yan and a band of misfit warriors including Silent Monk. But only by learning the true precepts of kung fu can Jason hope to succeed - and find a way to get back home.

Cast :
Jackie Chan as Old Hop/Lu Yan & T’sa-Ho
Jet Li as The Monkey King/The Silent Monk
Crystal Liu Yifei as Golden Sparrow
Michael Angarano as Jason Tripitikas
Collin Chou as Jade Warlord

Directed by Rob Minkoff

Jackie and Jet Li’s characters here in TFK are written based from their characters in their greatest on screen moments for examples Drunken Master and The Shaolin Temple respectively. Both men are still able to pull off some very entertaining fight sequences regardless of their age…lol…The long awaited fighting scene of the two kungfu legends Jackie Chan versus Jet Li are finally here and this is what I meant by that (see the clip below) :

However, I know that this is the westernization of a Chinese story but how I wish if the characters would speak in either Mandarin or Cantones…hehehe…It’s just weird to hear them speak in  English especially when the movie is set in a legendary Chinese kingdom…hmmm!

Nevertheless, I’m surprised to see Crystal Liu in this movie. It’s been a while since I last saw her in the 2006 television series, ‘The Return of the Condor Heroes‘. Actually, I watched the series from the CDs I bought during my holidays in KL back in 2006 ;)

Overall, I’d give ‘The Forbidden Kingdom’ a 3.5/5. If you love to see the two kungfu legends in actions, this is the right movie to watch. Don’t expect too much though. And I’m sure that it is the main reason people come and watch this movie! :)

Today’s Activities01.10.08

Woke up around 6.30 am this morning to get ready for the group photo shoot! But it’s worth it and I’m glad we had the photo shoot before Luke & Elaine go abroad to further study to Australia and Switzerland respectively. Well, I’m sure all of us the limadanglians will miss them so much. That’s why we keep seeing each other as much as we could since the first time I met them at Sandra’s Bachelorette Party at Cempaka. Should thanks the KIK’s Reunion which has brought us together and even closer now!

We supposed to meet at Taman Selera (Beach 2) at 9.30am and all of us arrived there around 10am (practising MRT according to Mel…hehehe) . Among those attended for the photo shoot are Benny the photographer, Mark (all the way from Keningau), Cai, Memeng, Azie, Luke, Elaine, Mae, Felix, Ruth, Redge, Melle and myself and that makes 13 of us without Cindy & Afad…hukhukhuk…I can say that all of us had so much fun today posing in front of the camera plus the silly act we did. Can’t wait for the photos to be posted in Benny’s blog.

After we had our lunch at Taman Selera, we went off to Cathay Cineplexes to watch the 1.30pm movie (The Game Plan).  I’m a big fan of The Rock, not just as an action star but as a comedic actor as well. This movie does makes someone shed ‘his’ tears…hehehe…a sentimental person as what Cai’s described it (it’s not Cai who is crying, it’s somebody else but Cai nearly did…oppss!!!)  There are some parts of the movie that makes you laugh your lungs out and yet there are also parts that touches your heart and makes you wanna cry…hukhukhuk…

All in all, it was a great holiday and worth my time especially spending times with my friends rather than me sleeping the whole day! ;)

Note : MRT stands for Malaysian Rubber Time… Elastic - Stretchable ….

Beowulf - A 3D Movie11.18.07

Watch this movie yesterday!!! Yeahhh…and for those who really do not know what this movie is all about, you will be very disappointed as many never thought that this is a 3D movie. I heard the couple at my back keep on asking each other on this *OMG, that is what I call distraction*. And I also know the reason why some of them watch this movie, it’s only because the super sexy hot Angelina Jolie was in it. Trust me!

For me, the movie is just OK to watch with some humor and not forgetting the 18SX (avoid bringing your children to watch this movie) scenes.  There is nothing to be proud of but Beowulf naked scene when he is fighting Grendel, that is something…whoaaa!!! As some of you might not know, this film is based on an old English poem by the same name but as I read through the comment of some viewers, they said that this movie is totally twisting some of the facts. Brianj-accardi from California wrote, “I read this story in my English class and found it thrilling and exciting and really grew to admire the character of Beowulf a Brave hero with no desire for riches or reward but only for glory. However the Beowulf of this movie is not that Beowulf, it is a greedy coward of a man who more resembles Grendal than Beowulf“. He added, “Beowulf did not screw the sea witch! HE KILLED HER! and he did not become king of that land as he returned home where he became king when his king died and the kings son was unfortunately killed he did not have a dragon for a son.

Well, don’t just sit there. You have to go and watch it for yourself rather than reading or listening on what people say about this movie. Your opinion might not be the same as mine, so, head over to the cinema near you. Once you do, please leave your comment here. Thanks!

This is the part where Grendel’s mother trying to seduce Beowulf. ” Are you the one they call Beowulf? Such a strong man you are. A man like you could own the greatest tale ever sung. Beowulf… Stay with me. Give me a son, and I shall make you the greatest king that ever lived. This… I swear…

Trivia : Angelina Jolie admitted in an interview that when she saw how her character looked, she was shocked to see how nude she really was, to the point that she said she was reluctant to allow Brad Pitt and her children to see the movie.

I went to the Tip of Borneo (or Simpang Mengayau as the locals call it)recently! It is one of the main attraction in Kudat where you can see the stunning view of the South China Sea. It's awesome...The above picture was taken using a Canon DSLR Rebel XT/350D with Tamron Zoom Telephoto AF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 lens... ^_^
